昨天準備睡覺時John聽到新聞Barbara Billingsley 去世享年94歲
我問John Barbara Billingsley 是誰 ?
他說就是演 leave it to Beaver 的媽媽
小時後看過Leave it to Beaver 的電視迷
年齡層現應該是50-60
我是在台灣看"小英雄",John是在加拿大看 "Leave it to Beaver"
每次跟John談到 leave it to Beaver 就有種很奇妙感覺
分住太平洋二邊不同國家的小孩卻是看相同電視劇長大
很巧 Leave it to Beaver 6季全套234集DVD才在今年六月發行
這是到目前唯一會讓我心動想收藏的電視影集
售價約160加幣,真難下手
如果一星期之內還唸唸不忘就要去敗家

昨天打烊後到大統華買"台灣"口味泡麵
因John的學生Tina & Devin現在 Quebec 讀寄宿學校說想吃Made in Taiwan的泡麵
我問Devin學校附近超市沒賣泡麵嗎 ? 他說有但很難吃所以指定要台灣口味
其實這邊韓式泡麵也不錯,但要台灣口味就只好買了一些"統一"產品了
有海鮮碗麵,當歸鴨細麵,肉燥麵 牛肉麵,牛肉米粉....卻找不到炸醬麵
小朋友還想巧克力粉,我想天氣漸漸冷了,晚上都會降到零度左右
泡杯熱巧克力應該很棒, 我都用泡泡棒攪拌,讓熱巧克力出現很多泡沫
喝起來特別好喝,下次到好市多買整箱,再寄去.
小朋友大概還不知所謂鄉愁的滋味,但吃家鄉的東西應該是大人小孩解鄉愁的相同方法
很巧用來寄泡麵的箱子是我從網路訂Fruits & Passion hand cream的箱子
因我看網友託人買20-30條 Fruits & Passion handcream
才知這是 Made in Canada (就在Quebec)
Fruits & Passion 原在新光三越有專櫃現撤出
只剩遠百,美麗華及微風幾家有賣.所以應該可以是不錯的小禮物

這是上上星期六發生的故事
其實本來興沖沖要參加小姑大女兒Dana 跟小女兒 Cassie 要給她們將出閣的姐妹Leandra 舉辦的Bridal shower
地點在Dana 家舉行10:30A.M. 是Brunch方式
因John要工作沒辦法載我去
所以他載我到我婆婆家放人他再去工作
結果只因婆婆一句話
Linda 妳該不會要穿著牛仔褲去參加bridal shower ?
我已參加過二次bridal shower 都沒覺得這是很正式的party 要 dress up ?
那我不參加好了,反正禮物我很早就準備好,結果換我婆婆很難過
我是有點鬧彆扭,我就是不想回去換衣服(其實我雖穿牛仔褲,John也知道我也有刻意穿漂亮上衣跟外套)
後來我跟John到店裡工作
因我有一位客人可能會回來買東西
傍晚婆婆還特別來電聲明大家都 dress up.那不去是對的
這類party吃對我已不會很吸引
不過卻失去一次看那小胖妹Mckena.

今天收到Leandra 謝卡,我小姑的孩子真的都很棒

Missed you at the shower but the gift was greatly appreciated.

鍋子沒洗乾淨,不然是很鮮紅亮麗
太重沒辦法帶回台灣

John今天做了一件我做不來的善事
一隻臭鼬昨天死在我們家後院
其實牠可能前天就死掉了
因我前天就聞到一股怪味道
而昨天天氣突然暴熱飆到30度
我一醒來
天ㄚ家裡好像電線燒焦的味道
整個家都有這股味道,卻不知從那裡來
John第一反應是臭鼬,他到後院居然沒看到屍體
反而叫我把窗戶全關起來,他認為是從別處飄來
這一來我反而中暑(應該是喝的水份不夠)
下午整個不舒服
這時想說有空就到後院看看還有沒有小蕃茄可採收
坦白說我到後院味道沒早上那麼重因颳滿大的陣風
當我一轉身準備回屋子
天ㄚ角落有一駝黑漆漆毛絨絨小傢伙躺在一角落
我第一反應該是野貓因我們家院子常來的小動物都是貓兔
臭鼬也是會來後院走走放放臭氣蛋就閃

我現只想到運河走一走透透氣
不對,屍體該怎麼處理? 明天就星期六
動物診所關門,所以我折返回家, 因屍體靠近我們最後那間guest room
所以我就走到房間確定窗戶是關著
我就隔窗察看,天ㄚ是臭鼬因我看到牠那頭部是白毛
我馬上打電話給John問他該怎麼辦
是要那個單位來處理?他說他回來再處理
昨晚我聽到John回到家卻沒進門
不久他進來跟我說那是隻大傢伙
我說你怎麼知道?他說他用鏟子先移到我們後院後面的楓樹旁
等明天早上他再埋了牠
所以John今天做了件我做不到的善事
他埋了那可憐臭傢伙

所以我做了這異國風味pizza讓他當午餐
pizza dough 是用新麵包機攪麵團需1小時 25分
我覺得新麵包機比舊麵包棒的地方是它揉麵團功夫了得
蕃茄醬汁我用煮義大利麵醬汁代替
家裡沒什麼蔬菜我只放洋蔥跟紅甜椒
我喜歡的蝦仁,牛肉塊是用鹵包鹵好
但沒什麼味道所以我用泰式辣椒汁攪拌一下
我加希臘Feta cheese,還磨一些義大利進口的parmesan cheese
真是美味極了

今天店裡賣場 Rona 舉辦第三屆 family day
有免費熱狗飲料提供
另外有現場樂團表演, 小朋友face painting , 免費騎pony
我拍了幾張我滿喜歡像片
白天越來越短
今年的summer 真的結束了

今天要介紹一個十年築夢的移民故事
我最喜歡看CBC一個節目叫Dragons Den
這是由五個不同背景企業家提供資金
幫助一些人有新點子或新產品但需資金幫助開拓市場或是合作的dream maker
因這五人可以說商場老將
所以如果你在短短幾分鐘無法很完整presentation
很快你的夢想就破滅
而且這些企業家底線幾乎都是要超過51%股份換取你要的資金以便掌控公司
每次看到成功的例子都會替這些人高興
昨天節目中一對來自BC省Victoria父子
他們的presentation引起 Drangon Den 給他們二個 offer
父子要求十萬現金換取25%公司權力
其中一個Drangon Den offer 100,000 cash 換取50% company
另一個 offer 是給十萬現金,但只要 45% company.
這對父子最後決定跟前者合作
因前者是加拿大 Boston pizza 連鎖店老板
他們認為 50% to 50% 對他們已經公平
爸爸在比利時是 wood worker
2000帶著太太跟兒子女兒及一個dream從比利時移民加拿大
他想在加拿大賣比利時鬆餅
2003開了自家 home shop
2009 在Victoria 港區租個攤位賣了三萬份Waffle
他現需資金幫他做加盟店的business
為了現烤鬆餅給 Drangon Den 試吃
他們將他們流動trailer 掛在他們車子一路從 Vancouver 開到多倫多

上星期John的學生家長Dick & Karen護送他們二位小孩Devin & Tina來加拿大魁北克讀書
在多倫多轉機停留三天先來看我們
我請Dick幫我帶電視棒(聽說這玩具加在電腦就可以看電視節目,台灣2008就上市)
Dick 卻帶來二件更新玩具(Choiix 的 Power Fort & Sense USB Charger)
不過因我們很忙,沒時間問清楚這二樣東西有什麼作用

John就先拆開USB Charger 卻不知有什作用
直到Labor Day 我們休假在家才有機會拿出新玩具研究一下
我拿出Power Fort,John上網在Youtube 搜尋一下,就發現這產品評價很好
不過問題來了,我們不知如何充電到Power Fort
所以我又花時間找到 USB Port AC Wall & DC Car Charger Kit

雖然賣價是USD14.95但是是在美國加州,運費要外加20.00美金
真傷腦筋,Dick送我們很好東西卻無用武之地
這時John再去看他先前拆開的東西
ㄚ,原來Dick早就幫John準備齊全
用這USB Charger 插在家裡牆壁的插座另一端接在 Power Fort
這樣一來John的MP3接在Power Fort 就可以聽82小時
而John的MP3剛好放電池的配件壞了
這下他很高興他又可以享用他的MP3 Player
不過我們兩人真覺得我們對3C新玩意真有點土包子感覺

這個小型ice cream maker 是Hamilton Beach今年新產品
我在四月中就看到報紙專欄介紹它
但要等到六月才會上市
我就一直在注意它的消息
等它上市時美國賣29.99美金
而加拿大賣39.00加幣(稅前)
所以我一直跟John說找天我們去美國買好了
但後來Debbie辭職後我跟John就沒辦法同一天二人都休假
直到八月初想到我婆婆曾孫女要過一歲生日
覺得這應該是很好禮物讓她媽媽在家做ice cream 給McKenna 吃
我就上Sears 網站看 (目前還沒看到店家有賣)
第一次覺得還是很貴也不知好不好用,所以考慮是不是先買一個自己先試試看
但一次handleing charge 3.00 若分開買下次又要多3塊錢
就這樣猶豫不決
等過1-2星期再上Sears 網站居然讓我碰到大減價只要29.00, 10.00 dollars off
我馬上下單買了二個,
今天為慰勞辛苦的John (他爬到屋頂換天線,我們家將cable TV節目停掉每個月可省40加幣)
因我們位在美加邊界附近,所以用天線可以看到 CBC,水牛城及公共電視至少八台
我們家電視不是HDTV,高畫質所以還要加一個轉換器,
John昨天到Missisauga 二家店居然都缺貨
不過今天先裝天線
我因擔心爬屋頂危險建議他找人來裝,這邊白人大概要收200.00工錢,
John說他要自己裝,終於搞定,但還要等轉換器
轉回原話題介紹這ice cream maker
它附二個12 oz 冰碗跟蓋子,
蓋子連攪拌器很方便拆洗
冰碗應該是兩層結構,裡面裝著化學液體
因搖晃冰碗會有液體聲音

製做過程: 冰箱要開到最冷, 然後將冰碗放在冷凍庫至少要八小時
我因剛好有草莓優格我就來做草莓冰淇淋

下面食譜是 6oz , 我都 double
1/3 杯草莓優格
2 tablespoons finely chopped or mashed starwberries (二湯匙切小塊的草莓,或將草莓壓成泥)
2 湯匙糖
3 tablespoons low-fat milk (三湯匙低脂牛奶)

combine all ingrdients and stir well to mix (將所有材料攪拌均勻,放冷藏)

等冰碗夠凍,拿出來將材料調放進冰碗蓋上蓋子 插電按on 讓攪拌器攪8-9分鐘

soft ice cream is done. (這個製冰淇淋機器製造出來的冰淇淋會比較軟不像在超市買的冰淇淋盒)
結論: 我跟John非常喜歡, 不過還有改進空間
1.原食譜是6oz ,Linda假聰明想說既然容量是 12oz 為什麼不一次做12 oz ? 所以材料都double
2.如此一來冰碗中間攪伴還是水水的,但冰碗四週就比較硬質,滿像冰淇淋
3.因是用優格材料所以滿像冰沙
4.下次糖可減半,
5. John已預約巧克力冰淇淋
自己製造不會有不好添加物,尤其給自己小baby吃最好
看來是買對禮物給小姑的孫女Mckenna

昨天一口氣收到五封來自台灣小朋友寫給我們的postcard
這些小朋友是跟Tracy學美語的學生
Tracy是John以前用skype教美語的學生
後來Tracy也來加拿大遊學
當我們homestay學生
昨天我陪我婆婆去Ikea shopping
我將這些postcards拿給她看
她覺得很有趣
現換我們要去找一些Niagara Falls 風景明信片回覆這些小朋友
說不定跟我們有緣將來會來加拿大讀書
做我們homestay學生

多事的七月終於過了
八月的第一天對我跟John是另一個新的挑戰
因七月我們一樣貨都沒賣出
今天賣場給John壓力
其實John立場很尷尬
因七月接二連三貨都沒好好送到客戶手中
John一直再處理善後
這些問題John是不便跟賣場說明
現賣場居然將garden center shut down
將一些part time jobs 職員layoff
greenhouse 只剩我跟John
所以顧客都會問我們其他產品問題
可是我們不是賣場請的職員
不過不管怎樣如果這個店沒站起來
最終John還是會變成代罪羔羊
Debbie的辭職
對我跟John士氣不可說沒有受到打擊
但也因她辭職後我跟John反而覺得這樣也比較好
是成是敗就由我們自己承受,沒有第三者可以推卸
最近John跟幾位客人解說產品後都很有興趣購買
但沒真正place order還是等於沒有業績
希望八月開始John四個月來辛苦播種能開始慢慢有所收穫

我的汗腺不發達,不容易流汗
即使有時候在 greenhouse 氣溫高到36-38我還是不會流汗
這也是為什麼夏天很容易中暑的原因
現在店裡有賣這個烤箱,室內式三溫暖
因我聽過一位太太說她在烤箱20-30分鐘
流很多汗能幫助她睡眠
所以我就利用休息時間試試看
一般在三溫暖spa的店使用這三溫暖
收費大概是一時段30分鐘 30CND
二人同時使用 30分鐘 CND50.00
這是我在工作時額外的bonus
它從華氏80度開始慢慢攀升到140度(最高溫度)
之後就會下降溫度游走於135-140 很好的產品
John曾賣過一個sauna給 spa resort店
這個啟發我們要在淡季時做的企劃
不知是不是因Debbie辭職關係
公司比較積極處理安省問題
現終於找到專業搬運工
老姐的建議:遇到問題就想辦法處理,John雖然不是能言善道的salesman,
但他很有耐心處理問題

在家使用時最好是脫光光圍條浴巾就好
我很倉促跑進去,鞋都沒脫,要John幫我照像,好寄給我老爸

雖然很忙我還是喜歡煮一些好吃的東西讓John或我帶到店裡當午餐或晚餐
當然可以去吃麥當勞或subway
但我們現已一星期七天在外不可能餐餐吃fast food
下面這道希臘式pizza是從CBC的 best receipt ever 學來的

很簡單就是用pita取代pizza皮
因pita很薄所以加在 pita的 topping 都要先煮熟

需先煮熟就是培根,綠花野菜滾水燙二分鐘
pita有二種開口(pocket)及不開口,用不開口的
我買六片一袋才99cents

topping:
先塗上pizza的蕃茄醬汁,我都用煮義大利麵的sauce
然後鋪上你喜歡的topping
猜猜我放幾種topping ?
有 bacon, broccoli, pepperoni, Italian style salami ,Black forest smoked ham
green pimiento-stuffed olives(這是一種綠橄欖鑲紅色柿子椒), mushrooms, sweet red pepper, mozzarella cheese
下次可能再加我婆婆喜歡的蝦仁及 anchovy
因pita很薄,用230度烤5-10分鐘就 ok,
口感跟真正pizza不太一樣,因pita烤後吃起來很脆
因很方便下次還會再做

我們本來跟Debbie調好工作時間表
沒想到Debbie翻臉像翻書一樣快
星期三晚上給John 一封辭職信
星期四最後一天工作
根本不管我們已計劃好星期一二要去露營
星期五我跟John去店裡
Debbie 還留一張不滿公司"罪狀"
我跟John說Debbie 未免太絕情
她明明知道我們好不容易抽出時間要去露營
只多待二天讓我們去玩一下都做不到
我們甚至遊說她不要辭職
暫時休息一陣,等公司運作真正上軌道再回來工作
她還是不願意
John說要去拜託她來上二天班好讓我們去露營
我說算了,不要欠她這份人情
之前她二次要去Quebec 我都讓她先挑好她要上班的日期時段
再來排我跟John的工作表
現只好我跟John辛苦看著店
不過我們也調整一些營業時間
像星期六日我們是9:00-19:00
若沒Debbie 跟我們輪班制
我跟John沒辦法看這麼長時間因要加上我們來回在路上車程就二小時
所以我們將星期六日縮短到 10:00-18:00
不能怪Debbie,因有個最大問題"送貨"公司沒有處理好
貨運公司都只將貨放在drive way 不幫客人送到後院
最小的spa都要上百公斤,沒有專業搬運工,客人是沒辦法自己搬到後院
我跟John就辛苦點,因九月就開始淡季
先等老板處理好送貨問題
慢慢再來決定要怎麼經營
滿可惜因John跟Debbie應該可以搭配很好
因我們已經有一些淡季想做的program.

我可愛的洋婆婆最近都會在星期天留message給我們
因她沒勁弄給自己吃
所以我們就會回家時在Grimsby停下來
去看看她並帶一些吃的東西跟她一起吃晚餐
上週我們就買Pizza去看她
今天John休假我請她中午過來跟我們一起吃飯

我覺得我滿喜歡做的事就是弄吃,
這次做凱撒沙拉
以前都買整個醬汁package(含起司粉,培根屑,醬汁)
這次自己來parmesan cheese 起司粉現磨就是不一樣
甚至麵包塊都自己搞定

我沒用培根,午餐放我婆婆喜歡吃的蝦
晚上換將水煮雞胸肉回鍋煎熱
加 Romain lettuce 真是好吃
這在餐廳one person加幣7-8塊跑不掉
另外我第一次做鬆餅還滿好吃
鬆餅機是用1/3價錢在2nd hand store買到
鬆餅麵糊是從網路找來,材料家裡都有
這鬆餅機唯一缺點是機器很燙所以烤第二輪鬆餅很容易烤焦
因第一次使用火候還沒控制好,需多練幾次
那天心血來潮就給自己弄一個下午茶鬆餅
最後這二張相片是連續二天在高速公路拍下,是我跟John 夢想的旅遊方式,下星期我們要去Grand river 露營,John要教我划獨木舟

來加拿大快七年了
終於吃到自己種的蕃薯葉
不知是不是因六月太多雨水
蕃薯藤葉子長的並不很旺盛
所以第一次採收只夠我一個人吃
反正John也不會跟我搶青菜
過幾天應該可以吃第二次
大家一定會笑我將蕃薯葉當山珍海味
這是你們無法體會的思鄉病


今年第一次種的小蕃茄,大概還要1-2星期就可以採收

某天回家路上在QEW高速公路上瞬間瞄到一片花海
隔天特別下交流道走service road.
尋找到一片玫瑰花海,真是美呆了


來加拿大這幾年,我對吃還滿能適應
所以也不會特別想念台灣食物
不過前陣子端午節剛過不久
突然非常想吃粽子
剛好現在工作的地點離大統華TNT雖還要30分鐘但已算很近
所以上星期居然去了二次

我跟John喜歡到大統華買三菜飯盒二人一起share
每人再加一杯冰豆漿
只因為它菜色味道滿道地中式
我們最喜歡辣子雞丁,蘿蔔牛腩及黑胡椒牛小排

因很想吃粽子所以買了冷凍台南式花生肉粽
不知好不好吃? 所以第一次只敢買二粒
好吃的不得了,John自己就吃掉一粒
這也是我們再去第二次原因
除了買第二次粽子,我也買了高麗菜
加拿大有生產高麗菜但品種跟台灣不一樣
還是要用台式高麗菜包餃子才好吃
我還買了一罐肉鬆,我做了幾個麵包,
將麵包切開塗上美奶滋加上肉鬆就變成台式肉鬆麵包
不知是不是歲月的增加?
最近很想自己一人回台灣住一陣子

上星期大賣場on sale,所以我們三人都很忙
但業積不是很好
而且John一直在處理,一而再再而三總公司發生送貨送錯的麻煩
Debbie 一直說她要quit the job.

上星期六John 賣了一個gazebo, 也賣了二個外觀有瑕疵sauna(乾式三溫暖)
他還是用Kijiji 放個廣告賣掉,應該給他credit 拍拍手 Debbie 也賣了一個combo 最少有230.00加幣 commission.(不錯了,別quit the job) 總之很忙,加州大學同學來電都還沒回
好消息是如果魁北克跟安省的國訂假日
我們都可以放假最重要還有pay.
還有我們的傻大姐 Dana 懷孕了,我希望是boy.
我們家的lily 長成這樣,真不像話,不過John跟我都很喜歡
這週末有位新移民媽媽跟四歲小朋友要來我們家
也許她們會選St.Catharines 為她們最後落腳的新家

今天休假,終於看到偷櫻桃的小孩

More than 30 years ago, a Mr Zhang who worked in the public sales department of a Taipei Brewery, participated in the brewery overseas study selection examination, and passed with flying colours.

He immediately suggested that Mr Zhang go to see Dr Lu for treatment. At first, Mr Zhang said he preferred not to see anymore doctors, so as not to add further to his misery.

當即建議前往訪求 呂 博士醫治，起初 張 先生說不願再看醫生，以免徒增傷悲；



But Mr Wei told him that he had telephoned Dr Lu before to seek his advice and arranged an appointment. Mr Zhang felt obligated and went with Mr Wei to meet Dr Lu.

但魏同學說先前已以電話請教過 呂 博士並安排好時間， 張 先生只好偕同前往 呂 博士住處造訪。



When Dr Lu met with Mr Zhang, Dr Lu said: ' Mr Wei is a friend and introduced you and I to get to know each other. This is destiny. Thank you. Let me ask you do you know why is cancer referred to as terminal illness?'

呂博士 和張 先生見面就說：「 魏 先生是我的好友，介紹你和我認識是我們緣份，感謝。我請教你：『癌為什麼叫絕症，你可知道嗎？』」



Both Mr Zhang and Mr Wei did not know how to answer.

Dr Lu explained: 'There are only two approaches taken by humans to treat cancer to-date. The first is to destroy the source of the disease. The second is to increase the capability to fight the disease.

呂博士又說：「人類醫治癌症到目前為止只有兩條路，第一條路是消滅病源，第二條路是增加抵抗力。



But the strange thing is that, whether we use Cobalt 60 or other drugs to destroy the cancer cells, before the cancer cells are killed, the good cells are destroyed first..

Every day, he ate green algae, drank chestnut soup, be optimistic and did an appropriate amount of exercise, and went back to the same public hospital for a check up. It was discovered that not only that the tumour did not increase in size, on the contrary it showed signs of shrinking, and surprised the hospital staff conducting the check-up as a miracle.. Five years later, the tumour had shrunk to such a state as to almost disappear.

每天又吃綠藻、喝菱角湯，樂觀加上每天適當的運動，一年後再到同一公立醫院檢查結果，發現腫瘤不但沒有長大、反而已呈現萎縮狀態，遂令醫院檢查人 員驚為奇蹟，五年後竟完全處於萎縮、至近於消失狀態。



After almost 40 years, presently Mr Zhang's health is totally normal, and living a very pleasant life.

Following Mr Zhang, a Mr Chen Tianshou, who was previously Head of the General Administration of the Taidong Provincial Hospital , was similarly diagnosed with lung cancer.

When Mr Wei heard of this, he told Mr Chen of the experience of Mr Zhang, and Mr Chen started to follow the instructions of Dr Lu to change his physical condition. The outcome was that he was able to recover fully from the cancer, just like Mr Zhang.
